Nursing and medical students follow the module ‘interprofessional collaboration’ during their studies. In it, they learn what is involved in the collaboration between healthcare providers from different professional backgrounds. Role plays are often used to let the students experience the importance of communicating well. However, organizing role-playing sessions is costly and time-consuming. In collaboration with &ranj studio, team Digital Learning and Innovation of Erasmus MC and several health care professionals, Vicki Erasmus of the Education section of the department of Public Health worked on a creative solution.
Team Up! is a multiplayer game aimed at training interprofessional cooperation. The goal in the game is to treat a virtual patient as well as possible together with a team. For this, each player has different actions at his or her disposal. Under high time pressure, the players have to find out what is going on with the patient, what the best treatment is and how it can best be carried out. Players have the opportunity to consult the virtual file, explore a wide range of actions and exchange information via chat.
